Family Friendly Party Ideas

When throwing a bachelorette party, it is important to consider who will be attending. The guest list should include those in the wedding party, and oftentimes this will mean there are children who will be attending. Children usually are incorporated into the role of junior bridesmaid, flower girl, and ring-bearer. It is important to include children from any previous relationships into the activities surrounding the wedding, such as the bachelorette party, if not in the wedding itself. A family-friendly atmosphere is key when planning a party that will include children or any relatives that hold traditional views. Here are some ideas for planning a bachelorette party that will include younger guests.

Scavenger Hunt

Here are a few examples of scavenger hunts you can use to throw a family friendly bachelorette party.

Around the Town: go to a nearby historical city, and race around town competing to find a certain amount of locations the fastest; this could also be done looking for specific objects that one has to find or buy.

Bridal Basket: go to the mall with a list of fun items that the bride would need for her wedding or honeymoon and compete to see who can either come up with the most creative items or finish the fastest. Younger guests can really get into the spirit of the game and feel like they contributed to an end goal.

Game Night

A great way to encourage a family-friendly bachelorette party is to host a game night. This can be such a relaxing time for the bride, because it offers her a chance to slow down and enjoy being surrounded by family and friends without going out to a huge event. It could either be a more upscale evening, with a catered dinner, or it could be relaxed, ordering or making pizza for dinner. Movies can play in the background while whatever game of choice is played. Games could range from board games such as Clue to more physical games like Twister, to interactive games like Disney Scene-It. There could be several competitions going on during the evening that lead to prizes. This is an easy event to really run with and design to fit the bride's desires for a family friendly bachelorette party.

Spa Afternoon

Who doesn't enjoy escaping away to the spa? Almost any bride would enjoy someone planning her bachelorette party to involve the spa. This is a great way to incorporate a family-friendly activity for the younger members of the bridal party because they can come along and be treated to a manicure or pedicure. Going to the spa does not have to mean an expensive, whole-day event. Pick one treatment that the bride will most enjoy, such as a massage. A trip to the spa generally would be a more intimate family friendly bachelorette party, as most spas can typically only accommodate small groups at one time.

Chick-Flick Fest

Invite guests to come dressed in their pajamas, ready to enjoy a leisurely evening of fun chick-flicks. This is a great family friendly bachelorette party idea for a bride who has a daughter who wants to participate in the party. Bring nail polish to do each other's nails, as well as fun facemasks. It might even be fun to try mixing up face or hair masks from a D.I.Y book. Enjoy giggling the night away sharing memories like in the old days. Do not forget about breakfast the next morning. For a quick and easy breakfast, either bagels or donuts could be provided. For a more memorable breakfast, ask someone ahead of time to volunteer to make something fun like crepes or Belgian waffles.
